2. What Information We Collect
TheSweetCard Registration:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Phone number (for OTP verification only)
- Optional: utility bill, phone bill, rent receipt or rent ledger (for Verified Tenant status only — deleted after review)
- Optional: landlord or property manager email (for Verified Tenant confirmation)
TheSweetScore and Digital Products:
- Name and email address (via Gumroad payment processor)
- Payment information is handled entirely by Gumroad — we never see or store your card details
Newsletter Subscribers:
- Email address only
Website Analytics:
- Anonymous usage data (pages visited, time on site) — no personal identification
3. How We Use Your Information
- To issue and manage your TheSweetCard and card number
- To verify your tenancy status (Verified Tenant badge)
- To send your purchased digital products
- To send our newsletter (only if you subscribed)
- To contact you about your account if needed
- To improve our services
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that affects you.
4. What Retailers See — TheSweetCard
Partner retailers using TheSweetCard only ever see: your card status (Valid/Invalid) and the last 4 digits of your card number. They never see your name, email, phone number, address, landlord information, or any uploaded documents. Ever.
5. Who We Share Your Information With
We never sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Gumroad — payment processing for digital products (their privacy policy applies to payment data)
- Our hosting provider (Hostinger) — to operate the website
- Email service provider — to send newsletters and account emails
- Law enforcement — only if required by Canadian law
6. Document Uploads — TheSweetCard Verification
If you choose to upload a document for Verified Tenant status (utility bill, phone bill, rent receipt, or rent ledger):
- Documents are reviewed privately by Capricorner Inc. staff only
- Documents are permanently deleted within 7 days of verification
- Documents are never shared with retailers, partners, or third parties
- Verification is optional — your basic card works without it
7. Data Retention
- TheSweetCard accounts — kept while your account is active
- Verification documents — deleted within 7 days of review
- Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe
- Purchase records — kept for 7 years (Canadian tax law requirement)
8. Your Rights (PIPEDA)
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal data
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from communications at any time
- File a complaint — with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca
